"Mastering the art of moving since 2003"

Tips and Faq

BIG OR SMALL WE WILL MOVE IT ALL

Preparing

  • Regard moving as an opportunity to get rid of belongings you no longer need. Consider making “donate” and “sell” piles in each room for things you could do without.
  • People have a tendency to keep outdated paperwork for a very long time. Realise that paper is very heavy. Do everyone a favour and get rid of any outdated documents prior to moving.
  • Make sure you have a generous supply of packaging tape, scissors, markers and labels.
  • Defrost your refrigerator in time for moving day.

Packing and labeling

  • Start packing from your kitchen. Cooking utensils, dishes, pots, pans, kitchen appliances and glasses take the longest to pack and they need the most care and attention.
  • Make sure you note and mark where everything packed in the boxes was moved from. For example, for clothes from the top shelf in the master bedroom closet, mark as top shelf master bedroom.
  • Make sure you have enough padding around the walls of each box and around each item.
  • Do not over pack the boxes and seal them with tape.

Moving out

  • Prepare to do lists for yourself, your movers and your cleaners a few days before moving day. Speak to Canada post about having your mail forwarded to your new address.
  • Mark the rooms at your new home to correlate with how you marked your boxes. For example, mark your office as office if you marked s a box that you marked master bedroomas the boxes are coded.
  • Contact your energy provider, go to https://www.enmax.com/home/moving#current.
  • Contact Shaw and book an appointment on moving day.

Moving in

  • Prior to the arrival of the movers, please clear the driveway, park your vehicles on the other side of the road and clear snow or any other trip hazards from the entrance.
  • Mark the rooms at your new home to correlate with how you marked your boxes. For example, mark your office as office if you marked s a box that you marked master bedroomas the boxes are coded.
  • Clean and disinfect the fridge, the kitchen sink, counter tops, toilet seats and the door handles.
  • Unpack the boxes one box at a time.
